ICT: A sector increasingly disconnected from climate reality

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector is a driving force in today’s global economy, leading the MSCI World index and representing nearly 32% of its total market capitalization. But with rapid digital expansion comes rising environmental costs. The ICT sector’s carbon footprint has grown significantly, driven by: A surge in connected users worldwide, an increase in devices per user and the growing energy and material demand of these technologies. In 2023, the digital sector was responsible for approximately 3.4% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

To address this growing challenge, Carbon4 Finance conducted a comprehensive analysis of major digital companies using its proprietary bottom-up CIA methodology.

Join our upcoming webinar to discover how the CIA methodology identifies the most climate-committed companies and get an exclusive look at the results of our latest analytical publication that will be online in July
