Carbon4 Finance - Head of Climate and Biodiversity Analysis

Carbon4 Finance is a provider of climate and biodiversity data solutions for the financial sector.
We offer a comprehensive set of data covering physical and transition risks, as well as biodiversity footprint. These methodologies enable the financial sector to measure the carbon and biodiversity footprints of their portfolios, assess alignment with a 2°C scenario and measure impacts linked to climate change and biodiversity loss.

 

Context

Climate change will have a major impact on the activities of all companies, leading to profound changes in their risk profiles. The financial sector is currently seeking to understand and integrate these issues.

As part of Groupe Carbone 4, a leader in energy transition and adaptation to climate change, Carbon4 Finance (C4F) provides financial institutions with the climate and biodiversity data solutions they need to assess these new corporate risks, comply with regulatory declarations (TCFD, art.29 LEC) and build the "low-carbon" investment or financing strategies desired by investors.

With around thirty analysts currently working for the company, Carbon4 Finance is enjoying strong growth and has major ambitions for its business in France and abroad.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the team of climate and biodiversity analysts, the core business of Carbon4 Finance.

You will contribute to the company's performance, impact and development. You will encourage staff commitment and initiative. You will build strong relationships with your ecosystem and contribute to the development of your expertise, project and team.

As such, your main missions will be as follows:

Development and management of the Climate and Biodiversity Analysis division :

-Represent the Climate and Biodiversity Analysis division on Carbon4 Finance's Management Committee (executive body), and more generally for all requests related to Analysis from other Carbon4 Finance divisions (Methodology and Research, Data, Sales and Product), or other entities in the Carbone 4 group.

-Represent Carbon4 Finance in exchanges related to the Climate and Biodiversity Analysis with external stakeholders (customers, prospects, companies, regulators, etc.).

-Develop the sector's expertise: build and lead analysts' sector and/or product expertise, liaise with external experts.

-Gain a thorough understanding of Carbon4 Finance's methodologies, as well as the challenges faced by our customers and financial institutions.

-Contribute to process optimization.

Business management :

-Implement the strategy and link it to the activity: create a coherent production roadmap including analyses, publications, expert contributions to methodological reviews, and any other work that adds value to the team's data and expertise.

-Organize and steer activity, manage priorities, coordinate.

-Organize the team to produce deliverables on schedule.

-Propose development orientations to enhance the value of the analyses produced for internal stakeholders (e.g., management committee, Carbone 4 Conseil, associates) and external stakeholders (customers, companies).

-Supervise activities (objectives, timetable, resources), validate reports and ensure the quality of the team's work.

-Set, monitor and adjust individual and collective objectives.

Leading and mobilizing teams :

-Facilitate the dissemination of information.

-Create a collaborative working environment within the team and with other departments.

-Mobilize everyone according to their motivational levers.

-Implement HR policy and ensure compliance with company rules.

Employee development :

-Identify and develop specific skills according to team and business needs.

-Encourage collaboration with peers, management, internal and external partners.

Profile required

With a university, business school or engineering degree, the candidate will have :

-At least 7 years' experience in financial and climate analysis, in a financial institution, consulting firm or data provider.

-A good knowledge of climate issues, depending on the sector, and of the various methodologies used to assess the environmental performance of companies, particularly in terms of transition risk, physical risks and risks linked to the erosion of biodiversity.

-A good knowledge of financial analysis, as well as the principles, players, roles, challenges and instruments of the financial sector.

-A conviction that the financial sector can/should lead the transition to a sustainable economy.
